Same-day roadworthy.

Ready to sell your car or sort out registration? Keep your plans moving with a roadworthy inspection at Elite Brake & Mechanical in Springvale. Our licensed testers give you clear findings and practical guidance, so you know exactly where you stand. Ask about a same-day appointment and certificate when your vehicle passes, subject to availability. If repairs are needed, we explain the work and costs for your approval first, helping you make an informed decision without committing to unexpected work.

Same-day appointments are subject to availability. A certificate can only be issued after your vehicle passes; repairs or a re-inspection may require more time.

A practical next step

Need your roadworthy sorted today?

When you have a buyer waiting or a registration appointment to organise, timing matters. Tell us your deadline when you book. We will check the available inspection times and discuss when to bring your vehicle in.

Our focus is a straightforward visit: an inspection, an explanation you can understand and a clear next step. If your vehicle passes and the inspection can be completed that day, we aim to issue your certificate the same day.

If something needs attention, we will explain the findings and discuss the repair options before you authorise extra work. A booking for today is not a promise that every vehicle will pass today.

The safety essentials

What does the inspection cover?

A roadworthy inspection focuses on safety-related items. These are the main areas checked against the applicable Victorian requirements.

01 /

Brakes

Braking components and operation, including the parking brake.

02 /

Wheels & tyres

Tyres, wheels and their safety-related condition.

03 /

Steering & suspension

Safety-related wear, condition and operation.

04 /

Lights & visibility

Lights, reflectors, glazing, front wipers and washers.

05 /

Seats & seatbelts

Seats, restraints and their safety-related condition.

06 /

Body & structure

Vehicle structure and other safety-related body, chassis and engine items.

An RWC is not a comprehensive mechanical assessment or a guarantee of future reliability. If you want an overall condition report before buying, ask about a separate pre-purchase inspection.

From booking to your next step

A simple, transparent process.

01

Choose a time

Book online or call. For an urgent visit, speak to the workshop so we can confirm availability and your vehicle details.

02

Bring your vehicle

Arrive at the agreed time and tell us about any concerns. We confirm the inspection scope and quote before starting.

03

Understand the result

We explain the outcome and any items needing attention. You decide whether to approve additional repair work.

04

Certificate or next steps

A passing vehicle can receive its certificate. If work is needed, we discuss repairs and the return inspection.

Plan your visit

A little preparation helps.

  • Have your registration number, make, model and contact details ready when booking.
  • Tell us about modifications, warning lights or a defect notice before your visit.
  • Clear access to the seats, seatbelts and luggage area, and bring the keys needed to access the vehicle.
  • Share your collection deadline so we can discuss a realistic plan.
  • If the vehicle is unsafe or cannot legally be driven, arrange suitable transport to the workshop.
The quote comes first

What will my inspection cost?

Ask us for a quote for your vehicle before booking. Send through the vehicle details so the team can confirm the inspection fee and what it includes.

Any repairs are discussed separately. If a return inspection is needed, ask the workshop to explain the timing and any applicable charges before you proceed.

Can I get a roadworthy certificate today?

Ask us about a same-day inspection slot. Completion depends on available appointments, the vehicle and the inspection outcome. We aim for same-day certification when the inspection is completed and the vehicle passes. Required repairs can extend the timeframe.

When might I need a roadworthy certificate?

In Victoria, an RWC is generally needed when selling or re-registering a vehicle, and for some defect notices. Exemptions apply; check the requirements for your particular transaction with VicRoads.

How long is the certificate current?

A Victorian certificate is current for transaction purposes for 30 days from issue. It is not a guarantee that the vehicle remains roadworthy throughout that period.

What happens if my vehicle does not pass?

You receive a report identifying the issues. Current Transport Victoria guidance allows 14 days for rectification and re-inspection; after that a new test is required. Ask us to confirm the return date and any fees. Repairs can be arranged with us or another repairer.

Does an RWC cover the car's overall reliability?

No. It assesses roadworthiness at inspection, not the overall mechanical quality or future reliability. It does not confirm that all non-safety accessories work. A separate comprehensive inspection serves a different purpose.

Do you inspect LPG vehicles?

Our roadworthy service is for petrol and diesel vehicles, not LPG. Tell us the vehicle type and any modifications when booking so we can confirm suitability.

How do I book, and do I need to pay online?

Use our online booking service or call 03 8512 0410. No online prepayment is required for this roadworthy booking. For a same-day request, calling lets us check the workshop schedule with you.
